New Reporting Policy
New Reporting Policy Information for Parents
Hello Lloyd George Families -
This upcoming school year, all of our teaching staff at Lloyd George will be part of the Ministry of Education's New Reporting Policy. I have attached the Ministry's Information package for your convenience. As we move through the school year further information will be shared with the home.
The BC Ministry of Education is rethinking how teachers report student progress - During the First Pilot year (2018-2019) the goal was to trial the draft reporting policy to see how it works - 2019-2020 was the Second Pilot year where the goals are to continue to trial the draft policy to test out the most effective strategies for shifting local reporting practices. Numerous schools throughout our district participated. This year, every elementary school in our district is taking part in the New Reporting Policy
Schools are aiming to increase student engagement and ownership by providing students with opportunities to become more involved and invested in assessment and evaluation processes. The most notable change will be the look of the report card and the reporting to homes - two formal reports (Jan/Feb and June) with a range of other reporting processes including celebration of learning presentations and communication with homes via phone calls, emails and conferences.
Communications will focus on social, emotional, and academic development. A four (4) point proficiency scale will reflect the student’s progress in relation to grade level expectations. The most notable change will be the look of the points of progress, the use of a proficiency scale IN PLACE of sliding scale and letter grades (See Parent Information Letter #2 or Understanding the Proficiency Scale #1) and the reporting to homes - two formal reports (Feb and June) with a range of other reporting processes (one coming in late November).
We are excited about being part of this Program. Please stay tuned for further information and check back here regularly for updated information to support your understanding of the New Reporting Policy.
