NUT AWARE: Just a reminder that Ecole LGES is trying to be sensitive to the fact that many of our students have severe life threatening allergies to many types of nuts. We would appreciate if parents could refrain from sending them to school for the safety of our students. Thank you.

Synervoice from Superintendent deBruijn

Below is the message from SD73 Superintendent deBruin

Synrevoice Message
Monday, September 1, 2014

This is a message from Karl deBruijn the Superintendent of Schools. I am calling this evening to update parents regarding the existing labour dispute occurring in the British Columbia public school system. Most of you have probably heard on the news that talks between the BCTF and BCPSEA have broken down. As of 5 PM today, Monday, September 1, 2014 the provincial parties have not been able to reach an agreement. Due to the
continuation of strike action, schools will remain behind picket lines and classes will not be able to start as scheduled on Tuesday, September 2. I am very disappointed for students, parents and teachers. I know that this situation has been, and continues to be, very challenging and frustrating for everyone involved. At this time the provincial parties remain far apart which adds to the continuing uncertainty about when an agreement will be reached. I recommend that you stay tuned to local media and to check our school district website at www.sd73.bc.ca in order to stay current. In addition, the Ministry of Education has set up a web site, bcparentinfo.ca , that will help provide you with up to date information on bargaining and how toaccess the “temporary support payment for parents” that is being made available to the parent or primary caregiver, of eligible students 12 years or younger. This message will be posted to the district website in case you missed any of the detail.

Let us hope that the provincial parties will continue to negotiate and arrive at a settlement which will enable us to open our schools and get students back to class.

I will notify you as soon as possible should there be a change in this situation.

Thank you again for listening and good evening.

PAC BBQ

Dear Parents,

We would like to announce the date for our Annual Potluck BBQ that is scheduled for Thursday Sept 11, 2014. This will be an opportunity to welcome back our existing families and new families to our wonderful school.

The order forms have been distributed to students through the classroom teacher. Please return no later than June 20. We realize that the BBQ is months away but because of the volume of supplies that need to be organized we need to give local businesses time to prepare.

Please understand that we order food based on families orders. We will not be having extras for purchase at the event.

Thank you and enjoy your summer ! BBQ Committee
